What the horror book mockup does
Horror sells on mood. A cover pasted onto a bright desk loses half its menace; on a dark table with a candle guttering behind it, it looks like the book you shouldn't open.
DudeCovers has two rooms made for horror. A stone room with a scarred oak table, melted candles, a cobwebbed candelabra, a rusty key and dried roses. And an old attic in moonlight, a doll's chair in the dark and a cracked mirror leaning on the wall. Your book is the real 3D book from your file, lit by the candle or the moon, with its shadow on the boards.
More from these rooms

Horror book mockup features
Candlelit table
The first of the genre's two rooms. Lay your book on the table or stand it up, and drag it round.
Moonlit attic
The second, in a different light and angle, so a launch doesn't use the same picture twice.
Your real book
The 3D book from your own cover file: paperback, hardback or jacket, any trim, and your whole series too.
Lit by the room
The room's own light and shadow fall on your book, and four sliders nudge its tone.
Straight answers.
- My cover is dark. Will it still show?
- The room's light falls on it as it would on a printed copy: the candle lights the front, the moon lifts the edges. The brightness and contrast sliders lift it more if you need to.
- Is the cover in these pictures a real book?
- No: it's a made-up cover in the genre, so you can see the room. In the studio it's your own.
- Is it free?
- Yes, to start, with no account and no watermark: the 3D paperback and hardback, turned up to 45° either way, exported at up to twice the size. Pro adds the full turn to the back, the open book, bookmarks, the ebook on an e-reader or tablet, the turning book video, the dust jacket, read and well loved copies, several books in one picture, the scenes and three times the size. You can try every Pro option on the canvas first; the export then carries a small preview tape.
